Designing a Science Experiment – ENERGY – Fair Testing

Paper details Designing a Science Experiment. In Assignment 2, you will be designing a science experiment. To this end, you will need to focus on one of the three modules that you used in Assignment 1(ENERGY) . Assignment 2 comprises Five parts which are explained below. Part A – Questioning and Predicting First, you need to come up with an interesting question related to the topic/module that you selected. You will then design a fair-test experiment to investigate your question. Since not all questions can be answered using a fair testing protocol, you will need to choose a question that lends itself to this kind of investigations. Note that, more often than not, research questions require a series of fair-testing to be answered. If that is your case, make sure that you include all the fair tests in your design. Please refer to the PDF entitled “Fair-testing” to refresh your memory on fair-testing. Part B – Performing the Experiment Once you complete the fair-test design, you will actually do the experiment and collect the data. You will need to provide several photos showcasing the different steps taken in setting up and completing your experiment. As you complete the experiment, you can always refer to the forums to post your topic-specific questions. Part C – Processing and Analysing data and Information Once you have completed your data collection, you will need to analyse the data. To this end, you will need to think about best ways to represent and summarise your data. You will need to consider your options for communicating the data and you must decide on whether using graphs, tables, figures, or diagrams would be most appropriate. Part D – Communicating your Findings Once you have completed your data analysis and are happy with your findings and conclusions, you will need to write a report to communicate your findings in a scientific way. In your report, you will need to references all your sources using APA referencing style. Part E – Reflection In this section, you will need to write your reflections on learning of science content and skills. Specifically, you will need to respond to the following set of questions: List three science process skills that you used in your experiment? What were some difficulties associated with implementing these skills? Describe how planning and conducting this experiment has enhanced your knowledge about your selected topic. Discuss what this tells you about the role of experimenting in science in relation to science learning. For this assignment, you must use the attached “Assignment 2 Template”. FAIR TESTING EXPERIMENT IMPORTANT NOTE – I will provide an experiment from another source. PLEASE use this as a guide … USE the results (numbers), photos however RE-WRITE the graphs and make sure NOTHING is plagiarised. For the NEW experiment that you will be writing MAKE SURE that it relates to ENERGY when writing results for example … how kinetic energy effects and varies results. You can re name the experiment to make sure it related to ENERGY … everything must be related back to the topic
