Karagiozis & Sgaglio present a “Dead Body Evidence Check List”. Consider each of the items contained on the list, then prepare a corresponding list explaining the reasoning for performing each task that are listed therein. The Checklist • Photograph the body and surrounding crime scene before touching anything. • Collect trace evidence on the body. • Gather other types of evidence from the crime scene. • Remove hair, thread and fiber samples and bag and tag them • Collect hair samples from the victim (head and pubic) if it is a sexual assault. • Collect samples of pooled blood • Gather control samples from scene (carpet fibers, soil, paint, etc.). • Collect samples from victim using “Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kit.” • Collect residue from underneath fingernails. • Swab bite marks. • Swab oral cavity.
