Data and Society

For the paper, I want you to hack (or at least, provide the outline of how you would hack) a particular data platform for the common good. This involves thinking what the platform set out to do, how it is currently done, and how it could be done better. The paper demands attention to both the technical changes you would implement (would you re-weigh parameters in algorithms in a particular way? Would you collect different types of data?) but also some vision in how these changes imply different ways of organizing workers and technologies. Additionally, you must think of the implications of your hack. How will your proposed solution make for a better world? What unintended consequences might it have?”
