Critical thinking paper about feminist theory.
Instructions: Please answer TWO (2) of the following questions. Each response should be a separate essay of 3-4 pages in length, single-sided and double-spaced. Please note that the total length of your exam should not exceed 8 pages. Your essays should demonstrate comprehensive mastery of class materials and discussions. You will be expected to compare, contrast, and/or synthesize critical theoretical, cultural, political, visual, and personal insights in order to formulate an original argument. You are encouraged, wherever possible, to draw parallels between class materials, contemporary political issues, and personal experiences. Incorporate analysis of visual materials wherever possible. Remember to write a powerful introduction, thesis statement, and conclusion for each essay, and to craft a convincing argument in between! Be as precise as possible in your paper, using specific examples from class readings, films, lectures, and discussions wherever possible to support your argument. For each question, you are required to discuss 5 class materials, including 3 readings, 1 multi-media material (film, video clip or podcast), and 1 reference to your notes from class lecture and/or group discussion (You can start a sentence, such as, as we discuss this topic in the discussion section, our group had come up the idea of…). You must also connect theoretical materials to a discussion of relevant personal experience– using the first person– in one paragraph, either at the beginning or end of your essay. Please note that some exam questions ask you to discuss specific readings and/or films, as indicated below. Ideally, you should discuss a combination of readings, lectures, films and film clips, and class discussions in order to craft your argument. Please do not discuss any source (reading, film, etc.) more than once in your exam—i.e., you must use a different set of examples to answer each question. Use quotations sparingly, in dialogue with rather than in place of your own voice. Discuss and attribute all quotes via footnotes or embedded citation. Please include a bibliography of all works cited at the end of your paper. Each of your essays should provide a clear thesis and concise argument in response to the questions asked. Be sure to illustrate your arguments with concrete examples from class readings, films, and discussions wherever possible. Include the personal voice (a personal story or reflection related to the subject of your essay) in one paragraph of each essay.
