Critical essay on typographic
In this assessment task, you will write a short critical essay or reflective statement about book typography and typographic design. You will choose two existing texts (provided here) as the starting point for your ideas. Choose ONE text you can relate to and agree with to some extent and ONE text that you find difficult to relate to or disagree with. You can reference and discuss more than two texts but the essence of your argument should revolve around two main texts. You will compare and contrast the two (or more) texts based on what you KNOW about publication and typographic design and based on your existing APPROACH to publication and typographic design. Your essay should be addressed to a general reader. Therefore, disciplinary knowledge and historical and theoretical concepts that are specific to communication design should not be presumed — these should be explained in your text or in your notes, in a style that is appropriate to a non-specialist reader. In particular, be sure to clearly explain to your reader the ideas from the original text(s) that you draw upon. IMPORTANT – Your text MUST include at least eight or more notes. Either bibliographical references or additional commentary on ideas and terminology used and discussed in the text. Notes need to be clearly marked in the text at their designated spot with a note reference either as footnotes or endnotes.
