Assignment 2: Crank

This assignment is worth a total of 50 points. You must type your response to the following prompt, it needs to be between 3 to 5 pages double-spaced, and it must be turned in through Canvas.

The assignment is based on the class text, Crank (but you can also include information from outside sources if you want to). Although the questions ask for your opinion on the subject you MUST include relevant information and citations from this textbook in order to receive full credit. The citation MUST look like this (Hopkins, 2004). An assignment that does not cite from Crank and does not cite correctly will not receive full credit.

Additionally, make sure you do more than just summarize the book. I’ve read the book, so I know what it says. I want you to take the information you learned from the book, think about the below questions, and provide your fact-based opinion.

The book Crank tells the story of a young girl who gets involved in the drug lifestyle. Do you think it is important to consider the stories of individuals who get caught up in the drug lifestyle when debating where and how drugs fit into our society (why or why not)? In addition, if you were a policy maker would you allow the stories of individuals such as the one in Crank to affect drug policies (why or why not)?
