The purpose of the Research Paper is for you to culminate the learning achieved in the course by gaining further insight about Congress and Senatorial elections. The focus will be on the Texas senatorial election in 2018. You will have an opportunity to apply knowledge learned throughout the course and see politics in action. You will produce a three- to four-page paper with a minimum of five resources, three of which are from sources that are peered reviewed. At a minimum, the paper shall accomplish the following: 1. Introduction. In this section you should have a thesis statement that is clearly defined. 2. Explain the role that Senators and Congress have in the United States. You should also go over the requirements to be a U.S. Senator as well as the powers of Congress. 3. Offer a historical background about Beto O’Rourke and Ted Cruz road to political empowerment (political career) 4. Discuss and analyze both candidates political platforms (fact check). 5. Analyze the election (strategies used by both candidates to persuade voters to support them). Explain the strategies’ effectiveness. The strategies that work and those that did not. Offer some suggestions about ways to improve both political campaigns. 6. Conclusions drawn from research and scholarly sources that provides the reader with an understanding of the assignment. The Research Paper: Must be three to four- double-spaced pages (Times New Roman, 12pt font and 1 inch margins) in length and formatted according to MLA style. . Must include a title page with the following: Title of paper Student’s name Course name and number Instructor’s name Date submitted T .Must include an introductory paragraph with a succinct thesis statement. Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis. Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought. .Must use at least five professional resources, including a minimum f three that are peered reviewed. Must include a separate reference page, formatted according to MLA style . Must be grammatically correct.
