July 28, 2024/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Admin

Directions: Write a developed 2-page essay on one of the following themes. Your essay needs to analyze one of the specific works under that theme. In addition, we have discussed or will discuss the need for a clear purpose/thesis as the last sentence of your intro. You also need a specific topic sentence as the first sentence of each body paragraph indicating the specific main point(s) of each body paragraph. In addition, you need a clear, specific pattern of development in your body paragraphs – which should have plenty of specific examples, illustrations and quotes – and compelling critical analysis. Your essay should also be formatted according the the standard MLA guidelines. This essay is worth 100 points, and I have posted a Grade Rubric for this assignment on turnitin.com to guide you in the development of your analysis “The Lottery” – Shirley Jackson 1.Your introduction should definitely introduce the work you selected. 2.Your Thesis Statement should be the last sentence of your intro. 3.Your Thesis Statement should be contained in 1 sentence and should not be a question or quote. 4.Each of your body paragraphs should have a clear, specific topic sentence at the beginning indicating the main point of that paragraph. 5.Your topic sentences cannot be quotes or questions. 6.Your body paragraphs should be fully developed with plenty of SPECIFIC examples, illustrations, and quotes from the work you selected. Three sentences do not constitute a fully developed paragraph. 7.Your conclusion is only used to summarize your argument, not to introduce main points. 8.If you use scholarly research, make sure that you provide a correctly formatted works cited page and that you cite your sources correctly, again in the correct MLA format 10.Your goal here is to write a constructive argument that reveals your reading comprehension skills, your ability to engage in sustained critical analysis of the work, and to articulate your concepts clearly and effectively.
