Compare and Contrast using three poems

 Using the three poems: “The Portrait” by Stanley Kunitz, “My Papa’s Waltz” by Theodore Roethke, and “Those Winter Sundays” by Robert Hayden compare and contrast the poems in an argumentative essay. Our professor wants us to have our own voice in the poem so try and put feeling in the poem. Make sure to use quotes from the poems when comparing and contrasting. Be sure to touch on the specifics of the word choice, characters, how the author feels, that all three relate to their dad somehow, talk about the lines in the poems and etc. Also, use outside sources such as the internet for some facts about how they differ or compare. Be sure to use those sources and good quotes. Make sure to have a clear thesis statement that covers the theme of all three poems. Also, before comparing and contrasting give a brief description of the poem.
