Compare and contrast the short stories “A Clean, Well-Lighted Place,” by Ernest Hemingway and “The Life You Save May Be Your Own” by Flannery O’Connor, and answer the following questions:
Topic introduction: For your final essay, you are going to compare and contrast two short stories and make an argument. In this course, we have discussed ideas of happiness, poverty, the American Dream, and we are ending with a discussion on forms of truth, finding meaning in life, and existential crisis as the consequence of nihilism and feelings of futility. All of these discussions, of course, are related to entropy—the gradual pulling apart of the order in our lives, including our Selves
