Civil-military and/or politico-military relations in the United States have not changed substantially since the beginning of the Global War on Terror

July 29, 2024/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Admin

Assignment Instructions The components of this assignment include a research question, a purpose statement, and a literature review of at least 6 sources, two of which must be peer-reviewed. The specific research question should address some aspect of civil-military and/or politico-military relations in the United States (Course Objective 3). You should take a position on that question, and then discuss/defend that position. 6-8 pages doubled spaced, using Times New Roman 12 font. The School strongly prefers the use of the Turabian/University of Chicago citations. Note: This content will constitute a portion of your final research paper so refine it per my feedback in the gradebook and save your work for inclusion in the paper. Please follow these guidelines. What your proposal should include:

1. Your topic and a tentative title for your paper. Eg. The topic of my paper is that civil-military and/or politico-military relations in the United States have not changed substantially since the beginning of the Global War on Terror. The tentative title is “Civil-Military and Politico-Military Relations within the United States since 9/11.” 2. Your primary research question. State this in the form of a single clearly worded open-ended question that is not able to be answered with a “yes” or “no” response. Eg. “The primary research question that this paper will seek to answer is: How have civil-military or a politico-military relations in the United States been affected by the Global War on Terror ?” 3. A purpose statement that briefly describes what you intend to do and how you intend to approach your topic and research. (How will you answer your question?) 4. A tentative hypothesis. This should be your initial best guess at what you think the answer to your question will be. Eg. “The tensions created by fiscal and policy aspects of the Global War on Terror have substantially affected the relationship between senior military and civilian leadership.” 5. Literature Review. Discuss some of the main sources you have found that pertain to your topic and research. State the author’s main conclusions and findings to illustrate how or why the work is important to your research. You will expand on your research or refine your bibliography and use these sources in more detail in your paper along with the other content of this week’s assignment.
