Can Person-Centred Dance Movement Psychotherapy creatively help to develop and deepen the relationship between the primary caregiver and their autistic child?

 The methodology can remain a case study as a way of focusing on literature and pulling information to make a case. However the method and possibly methodology is a literature review. You can say what the intended methods were e.g. setting up DMP groups but due to the complex scenario of the child also being in the group ethics was not given. In the conclusion to the whole study you can then go back to this and recommend this would be the next step in research, however ethics would need to be considered greatly Therefor there needs to be a section on writing a critical literature review Email – Feedback from tutor : You have made a good start with some good ideas, however despite the size of the study there are some other concerns. The standard of English, language and grammar will not meet that of the University, at this stage of a Masters they will not consider English as a second language as a reason for poor sentence structure and grammar. Unfortunately this is impairing the reason of thinking and thoughts/ ideas being followed through, often it is unclear what is being meant. At this level the university also expects greater use of references and more current references. Equally more critical analysis needs to be present throughout the study, especially the literature review and then the data analysis when it is done. The methodology chapter is somewhat confusing as it is all based on the methods still being that of your original design, which was not ethically approved. It is important to state that this was the original plan but for complex ethical reasons CCCU did not approve it, therefor a critical literature review had to be done instead. … This means critical literature review theory needs to be in place, how you have adapted the focus and methodology to meet this, how the idea of still finding the human experience within the literature is important. You can then come back to the original idea in the studies conclusion, suggesting it as the next level of research. My comment: Originally I was going to do a case study but university didn’t grant ethical approval , so I had to change to critical literature instead . Tutor wants me to mention this but also show that I understand why was the outcome…. ( My daughter is also autistic so I have experienced first hand the effects of DMP on our relationship )…Originally the research was going to be a case study project Title: “A Case Study to explore how Person Centred Dance Movement Psychotherapy can creatively enhance the relationship between the primary caregiver and their autistic child.” This project presented a number of challenges for the panel in terms of the intended participants (carers of children with a diagnosis of autism) and that the study involves an intervention (DMP). We therefore had to determine whether the faculty panel was the correct panel to review the application. Taking into account the Health Research Authority (HRA) guidance and decision making tool we have concluded that for studies such as this applications should be made to the HRA.. so it didn’t get ethical approval, hence i had to swap to a crutical literature instead.
