Brain and Drug News Submissions (find 2 news)
These are found in the D2L Assignments section. Our knowledge of drugs and the brain is advancing quickly, and it is exciting to keep track of the most recent discoveries. To stimulate thought about recent neuroscience discoveries, students will explore sites such as those listed below to find cutting edge neuroscience articles that interest them. For each Brain and Drug News submission, find either a news article reporting a recent finding (see the Recommended News Sites list below) or a recent peer-reviewed original research article (ask for recommendations if you choose this option) that interests you. The article should relate to drugs AND the brain. On the due dates listed in the syllabus (mark those dates in your calendar!), submit a summary that includes: 1) a link to the research article or news article you read, 2) a paragraph discussing the main discovery from the article (e.g., What drug was studied, and what receptors does it bind? What was the experimental design? What was the finding?), and 3) a few sentences relating the finding to course material and describing why the article is interesting to you in your own words.
