Bottom-up and top-down effects of browning and warming on shallow lake food webs.
Each student will choose (from a collection provided) a paper about a particular topic in Ecology. These have been selected for their relevance to the class and accessibility to undergraduate students. Your assignment: 1) Based on the titles and abstracts, choose a paper that you would like to use. Only one student may choose each paper, so first come, first served. Once you have selected a paper, you have to keep that one. 2) Read the paper and make sure you understand everything – look up words with which you are not familiar, figure out how this study contributes to _________. Think about why this paper is particularly interesting to you. How might it be applicable to other situations or real-life problems? 3) Prepare a presentation (using powerpoint slides) of not more than 10 slides, that can be presented within 8 minutes. You can turn in your first draft for some feedback from your instructor by 24th June 2019. They will make comments and return to you within a week. 4) Two weeks later, the final presentations are due, 8th July 2019. You should upload a narrated powerpoint, or video, of you presenting the talk. These will be posted in a discussion forum so that everyone can view them (reviews are due a week later). Please title your presentation with your name (last name, first name), the first author of the paper, and the title of the paper, for easy recognition.
