Benchmark – Servant Leadership Analysis Analyze your volunteer experience by writing a 1,000-1,250 word reflection focused on your volunteer experience. Examine how volunteering enabled you to practice the principles of servant leadership. Reference and address the following in the paper. 1. No abstract needed. This was my volunteer experience On Sunday June 9th I visited the Vanderveer Park United Methodist Church, located at 3114 Glenwood Road, Brooklyn, New York 11210. Other than regular church services this church is very community oriented. It is involved in programs such as feeding and housing the homeless, assisting parents who work and cannot afford to pay for after school to keep their children safe. They also cater to young children whose parents are incarcerated with support. I spoke with Mrs. Marjorie Brown (718 864 5636) organizer of the programs informing her that I would like to volunteer some time in one of her programs. She was just as enthusiastic as myself to grant my request. She explained to me how each program is facilitated so I could make a choice. I always thought about things that can happen when children are left home alone and also children whose parents are incarcerated may feel abandoned. Children whose parents do not have quality time to spend with their then tend to be troubled and difficult to handle. This experience will certainly take me out of my comfort zone. I think this setting will be very beneficial to me in the sense that it will enhance my studies and my purpose in life to help the unfortunate. I am anticipating this experience to be rewarding for me and the youths I am planning to lead.
