Effects my unit population which consist of brain and spinal cord injuries. decreased mobility which includes hemiparesis, hemiplegia or quadriplegia/paresis. trying to prevent prolonged hospital stay, increased cost from insurance companies refusing to cover HAPI’s, infections from exposed skin and increased safety and hospital experience. what? background to the problem lack of experience related to new grads, poor education on placement of wedge to relieve pressure off butt, ancillary staff including respiratory not switching ett to different sides of mouth, leaving patients incontinent for extended period of time creates most environment for skin to breakdown, not turning patients frequently and not changing out pulse ox probes, ngt holders and etc. starting doing shifty audits on compliance of turns and usage of waffle mattress, trying to Create a audible/visual reminder every 2 hrs to remind nurses to turn patients. working with tech support for unit. all other info needed for abstract can be researched. please include databases used!
