Complete an informal assessment of your organization’s current employee selection practices. Be specific. Use an HR evidence-based approach. Write an 1000- to 1200-word paper guided by the following requirements: Introduction. Provide a brief introduction to the paper. Overview of Selection Practices. Describe your organization’s employee selection practices. Include a recent, current or future job description for a position within your company. This will serve as a focus for the rest of the assignment. (You may also use the same job description from Workshop One.) Assessing Employee Selection Practices. Assess your organization’s overall employee selection process, using supporting data including excerpts from HR manuals, process-flow documents, screening procedures, selection assessments/tests, and in-depth interview questions. Consider the following questions: Are selection processes clearly defined and up to date? Are screening interview questions well aligned to the minimum criteria of the job posting? Do screening interview questions include questions about the candidates’ most basic requirements? Are selection assessments/tests appropriately used, if applicable? Are varying types of in-depth interview questions asked appropriately? Are panel interviews and video interviews used effectively? Improving Employee Selection. Formulate three substantive ways to address one or more of the areas of weakness identified in the assessment of employee selection practices in your selected organization. Evaluating Interview Questions. Obtain the interview questions used in your organization for the position you selected in Step 4b. Include the job description in the appendices of the paper. Include the current company interview questions in the appendices of the paper. In the body of the paper, provide a written critique of the questions. Revising Interview Questions. Based on your critique of the organization’s interview questions, revise the questions to best support your organization’s recruiting efforts. Include the revised interview questions in the appendices of the paper. Alternative Option for e. and f.: Newly Drafted Interview Questions. If you cannot obtain, critique, and revise the organization’s interview questions, then develop 10 to 15 newly drafted interview questions. Include the job description in the appendices of the paper. Include the 10 to 15 newly drafted interview questions in the appendices of the paper. Within the body of the paper, describe how the interview questions best support your organization’s recruiting efforts and why they are a good fit for the specific position. Conclusion. Provide a brief conclusion. A title page and reference page are required. Be sure to reference organization documents and website(s), as applicable.
