Chapter 5 & 6 Choose a location that would be convenient for you to make observations (e.g. food court in the student union, a library, study area). As an individual: Decide on specific behavior that you would like to observe Write an operational definition of the behavior Devise a method for making observations including such things as time of day, number of observers, and so on. Practice observing. Next: 1. Describe your data collection method (see the chapter “Measurement Concepts”) 2. Consider and describe the ethical implications of your data collection method (see the chapter “Ethics in Behavioral Research”) 3. Evaluate the operational definition you devised to study the behavior. Summarize what you learned from this activity
