Evaluation of New Media-Based Intervention
You have managed to convince most of your colleagues that your project would be effective. Now, your supervisor wants to see examples of two pieces of materials that might be used in the project. Part I… First, you will create two pieces of educational material (information sheet, website, video, etc.). For each material, write a two (2) page explanation for why you have chosen to do it this way, remembering to incorporate what we know about theory, health literacy, cultural competency, and other influences on health behavior. In order to complete this assignment, it might help to recall your assignment from Week Two—you applied a theory to behavior change. Is there a theory that undergirds your materials and why you think they will work? Next, you might want to recall the way that you did the This be assignment. As you are designing your communication materials, think about the objectives for your materials. Part II… Next, you will develop an overall and materials-specific evaluation plan. This means you will do two things. First, provide a brief, overall evaluation strategy for your program. How will you know your overall program has been successful (you can imagine that this evaluation takes place in a time further in the future)? What changes will have happened at your end point and how will you make sense of them? Next, for each of these two pieces of educational material you created, include a brief evaluation plan, using what we have learned about health surveillance, informatics, and evaluation. Thinking about your communication objectives, how will you determine that your new materials have been successful? Whether or not you are using new media, you may want to use Appendix A8 (Evaluation of New Media-Based Interventions: Proposed [and evolving] Logic Model) as a model for your evaluation plan. The headings in A8 will be helpful in organizing your evaluation plan. The rubric also has a slide to links of other evaluation websites; they may provide some guidance for formatting your evaluation plan. A complete assignment will be 8-10 pages, double-spaced, 12 font. It will have a minimum of 10 scholarly citations/real life examples that help justify your choice of materials and your evaluation plan for the materials. Please note: Due to limited space in the assignment, you are not expected to create an evaluation plan for the entire project, just for the materials you are producing.
