EHR research

Assume you are the CIO of a medium sized health organization. The CEO is looking to change EHR systems and has asked you to recommend two options; at least one of which should be a new EHR system. Prepare a presentation (no longer than 30 minutes) that discusses the EHRs you are recommending. Be prepared to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of both options. Included in your presentation should be a “handout” with a summary of each, including estimated implementation time and costs. The following are the boundaries you should use: • Serving 15-20k patients yearly • 4 medical clinics in the system • 1 urgent care • 1 Behavioral Health unit • No hospitals • Budget for new organization wide EHR system: $200,000 Year 1 • Age of current EHR: 9 years old
