Acme’s president has publicly stated he has no plans to market the drug. Beta, Inc. copies the drug and releases it on the market. Beta makes no profit on the sale of this drug and only charges enough to cover its costs in manufacturing. Address the following: 1. Identify the intellectual property implications in this scenario. (Tip: provide a brief overview of the types of IP and then focus in patents and infringement. Include case law that could be relevant to this hypothetical.) 2. Discuss how alternative dispute resolution applies. (Tip: Provide an overview of the types of ADR and describe how they might work in resolving dispute in hypothetical. Include case examples.) 3. Identify the ethical dilemma faced by Acme, and the dilemma faced by Beta. Use two theories of ethical thought to discuss the recommended course of action by both companies. Instructions: 1. Write an essay that covers the above plus anything else you deem relevant (SEE RUBRIC) using at least four credible sources, one of which is the assigned texts and required readings in this class. Title page and references are not included in word count. 2. Your essay must be in APA 6th edition format, and include a title page and references page. An abstract is not required. 3. You are permitted multiple submissions to allow you to resubmit to correct a high TurnItIn report. You should have no higher than 15% (excluding references). 5.
