Black womanhood
In this assignment, students must (1) provide thoughts and ideas on womanhood (feminism and womanism on a global scale, not in the Black community) (2) provide thoughts and ideas on Black womanhood from a historical perspective; (3) summarize the readings discussed in this class (4) compare and contrast the ways in which the authors depict Black womanhood in their work, noting both the similarities and differences between the texts; (5) discuss the lessons to be learned for Black women based on the depictions offered through the selected texts. The texts to discuss are: The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, Kindred by Octavia Butler and The Color Purple by Alice Walker.
