The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of South Africa
Paper details Talk about Nelson Mandela – appointed president in 1994, and the time that his administration came up with the TRC. They labored to figure out the best way to move forward as a country. It never got the recognition that it deserved after the end of the “apartheid”, a brutal system of privilege and racism by the British, Australian, and South Africans. Many bad things happened. What the TRC was trying to do; restorative justice that was not punitive even though some did go to jail. That was not the intention but the goal was to try and restore everyone’s dignity who had been affected by the system of the apartheid, including the white people. Optimistic Idea of coming clean and moving forward together as the world watched. Evaluate the TRC vs apartheid then and now How effective was the TRC and what’s happening in South Africa up to today?
