This discussion forum will focus on teaching strategies to promote the development of language and literacy. Topics may include any of the content from your reading or the PowerPoint lecture. Answer all three questions Possible topics might be: 1. Have you had personal experiences with using phonics vs. whole language to teaching reading? If so, what were those experiences? 2. What are some of the most challenging aspects of teaching composition to high school students? What strategies or techniques have you found successful? 3. National statistics indicate that relatively small numbers of American adolescents read for fun. Why do you think this is the case? What strategies or programs might encourage adolescents to read more? Do adults read for fun? Should they?
