Employee & Applicant Privacy
This reflection question ties together some of the work we examined on technology and ethics in the context of social networking sites and employee privacy. Read pages 1-3 of “Use of Social Networking Websites on Applicants’ Privacy” by Black, Stone, and Johnson (2015). As the use of social networking sites to inform employment decisions continues to increase, do you think this practice works to build a stronger workforce or one that is potentially weaker? If you were managing a company, would you implement any policies on the use of social networking sites to inform the employment process (e.g., using social media for background checks of applicants), explain why or why not? Please attach a Word document to submit. Use appropriate APA formatting including a cover page and reference page in addition to the pages of text (you do not need an abstract or executive summary). Points will be deducted for not complying with APA standards. Information on APA formatting: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/section/2/10/ Microsoft Office is necessary for completion of writing assignments in the course. Current TAMUCC students have access to this program at no cost. Please see the following website for additional information: https://it.tamucc.edu/Office365/Office365.html
