The issues and challenges in mathematics instructions is finding the appropriate role for technology in helping to meet the new requirements for the Common Core State Standards for Mathmatics and best practice (CCSS-M National Governors Association Center for Best Practices ). • Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them. • Reason abstractly and quantitatively. • Construct vialbe arguements and critique the reasoning of others. • Model with mathematics. • Use appropriate tools strategically. • Attend to precision (not so much for 0-8yrs) • Look for and make use of structure. • Lof for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
