Shintoism in the modern world

The paper should be 2200 words long. A paper on Shintoism, which was formed as a spiritual religion and immersed in nature has been hijacked by the modern world to try try and use it to promote a more ecological way of life. My teacher does not want a introduction on the religion, as we have covered that in class. But wants us to write a in depth analysis of our choosing based on Shintoism. I have chosen to revolve it around its natural ideology and how we are trying to regain that in the west. However, it was not created with that in mind, so is it a good thing or a bad thing? She is very interested the political side, however im not sure how much that has to do with it, so that may not be a big issue. This is a second year course, so it doesnt have to be too scholarly, however it constitutes 60% of my grade so i would prefer not to risk it.
