In recent years there have been numerous advocacy groups who have argued that there is an unjustifiable wage differential between men and women. According to many sources, women make on average only 79% of wages earned by men. In that context, consider the following situation. An employer conducted a job evaluation in an office setting. Included in the evaluation were the jobs of administrative assistant and building mechanic (a maintenance worker title). The following is a breakdown of each job title by the sex of the incumbents. Administrative Assistant Building Mechanic Women 24 1 Men 3 14 With respect to compensable factors, each of these positions achieved identical scores. The company in the end created the following starting wages: Administrative Assistant $14.75/hour Building Mechanic $16.95/hour 2) Write an essay of between 500 and 750 words answering the following question. Does this decision represent an example of sex discrimination? If so, why? If not, why not? Explain fully. 3) Upload your essay in this assignment.
