Infographic Project – Public Service Announcement

The final project for this course will be the development of a Public Service Announcement (PSA). It is worth 50 points overall and will be shared with classmates at the end of the semester. This assignment must include a finalized PSA and a written component (approximately 4 pages). Below are some questions and answers to help guide the creation of your PSA. What is a PSA? A Public Service Announcement is designed to convey information, shape attitudes, and/or change behavior. Your PSA may do some or all of these things, depending on your topic and focus. Is there a specific topic I need to cover in my PSA? No. However, it should be something related to what we have covered in the course (regardless of when it was covered). It can be broad or specific. What form should the PSA take? Your PSA should be an infographic. Although this may not be how many people think about PSAs, as many PSAs are single images with just a few words or single sentence, PSAs for this class need more information than can be conveyed in that form. In general, in a well-done infographic, there should be about 5-7 solid pieces of information (facts, actions, etc.). What happens with my PSA? In addition to submitting your assignment to your instructor, you will be posting your infographic to a discussion board sot that it can be shared with and evaluated by your classmates. What goes into the written assignment? The “problem” you are trying to solve (i.e., why is this an important topic for a PSA?) Why you chose this topic (could be in the same paragraph as above) An explanation of your topic and the information you are trying to convey in your PSA Identification of your target audience and why this audience is important to target The desired outcome of your PSA (i.e., what do you hope to change, influence, affect, etc.) Annotated list of sources used to create PSA; annotations should include citation, why you thought this was a legitimate and/or valuable source, and what information in your PSA was taken from this source
