1. Why would many, small populations favor extinction of the organism more than a single, large population of an organism? 2. What do you think would happen to fig populations if a wide highway (that orangutans can’t cross) separated one region of forest into two regions? How would the proposed highway affect orangutan populations if the highway happened to separate a rich source of late-maturing figs from the best sources of early-maturing figs? Imagine you were told the highway HAD to be built. Propose a suggestion to minimize the effect on wasp, fig, and orangutan populations. Be sure to explain your reasoning in each case!
