Developmental Psych Gender Roles

 It is clear that gender roles start at a young age. Read about gender roles in your textbook, and then watch the videos for this week and refer to both throughout your response.  firstly what do you believe leads to gender differences? Are they caused biologically (nature) or through culture and environment (nurture)? More specifically, what theory on sex role development makes the most sense to you: psychoanalytic, behaviorists, cognitive theory, humanism, or evolutionary theory? (see textbook for info on each theory)Should male and female differences be encouraged and these sex role differences be supported? Or should children be kept away from fulfilling specific sex roles so that we are not putting stereotypes or restrictions on them? Is it possible to raise a child to be gender neutral?
