his is a Final Paper of a PhD seminary course titled The Bible and Pastoral Care” The paper topic will be: “Transgenderism and Pastoral Care.” The issue of transgenderism in contemporary churches is presenting the modern pastor with new challenges. The paper should address Biblical and theological issues regarding gender in an analysis of contemporary challenges faced by churches regarding people who self-identify as transgender and desire to be a part of congregational life. The paper will be 20 pages in length, double spaced, using 12 point Times Roman Font. The paper must have a clear thesis and a clear outline, and it must otherwise conform to the expectations described in the ‘Argumentative Essay’ rubric, attached below. The paper must work with primary sources in addition to relevant secondary sources and advance and defend a clear thesis. The paper is also expected to interact substantially with the original text of Scripture in organizing a stance for pastoral care in relation to transgenderism. No blogs will be used as sources on this paper. Students are expected to interact substantially with primary sources and high quality academic sources available via reputable academic library search engine (use attached materials and any additional materials of same quality – peer reviewed articles are preferred). Furthermore, writer must demonstrate an awareness of opposing views. The recommended doctoral style-guide is the standard for the writing of formal papers at doctoral level following the attached style manual. Papers with grammatical and spelling errors will be rejected. Long and lengthy block quotes are not preferred. Demonstrate a general knowledge of the theological, social, and ethical components of pastoral care; 2. Demonstrate knowledge of the various ways the Old Testament is used in discussions of pastoral care and issues such as counseling, evangelism, church leadership, and the pastor’s personal ministerial ethics; 3. Use basic exegetical skills to interpret the Bible effectively in developing a strategic plan for pastoral care;
