Immigration stirs up passionate feelings. The United States is a nation built on immigrants, and roughly one-quarter of its population is either foreign born or has a parent who was born in another country. A key question related to immigration is the following: Should the United States encourage skilled and highly educated people to immigrate while preventing those with few skills from entering the country? Your task is to address topics studied in the course so far in the context of immigration. The steps you must take are listed below: Find a recent article/s on immigration as it relates to labor supply and demand and/or other topics covered in the course. Prepare a 1,000- to 1,200-word research paper in which you discuss and analyze the points in the article/s using reliable third-party sources as well as your textbook. When preparing your response to the article, consider the following and any other topics you find relevant to the article about immigration: Suppose the United States accepted annually the same number of immigrants, but all immigrants had to have college degrees. Explain who would be helped and who would be hurt by the change in policy described in the bullet point above.( Perhaps include U.S. Census statistics as supporting documentation of your analysis.) Most states have passed laws mandating school attendance to increase the education and skill level of the American workforce.
