The history and development of models of the atom nucleus: The Droplet Model, The Fermi Gas Model and the Nuclear Shell Model
Description
Please write a short manuscript about “The history and development of models of the atom nucleus: The Droplet Model, The Fermi Gas Model and the Nuclear Shell Model”. The manuscript should have three chapters. Chapter one is “The Droplet Model – Bethe-Weizsäcker Model and Semi-empirical mass formula”, chapter two is “The Fermi Gas Model” and chapter three is “the Nuclear Shell Model”. Do not use any quantum theory and don’t use too much mathematics, keep it to a Wikipedia level. We only need basic physics. Try to find the basic thinking do not go too much into details. Do not go too much into formulas and mathematics. One formula per chapter might be enough. So take the semi-empirical mass formula for chapter one and explain the different terms (Volume term, Surface term, Coulomb term, Asymmetry term, pairing term and so on and take the first Wikipedia formula for the Fermi Gas chapter. Do not develop your own ideas. This manuscript should have 20 references in Vancouver style. Do not go too much into details but explain as clear as possible. This manuscript should give an overview. Do not develop any own ideas or hypotheses. Only review the literature and text books and only describe what has been written before. Please keep it to a text book and/or Wikipedia level. Please try to find the historic relevant references from Bethe Weizsäcker and Fermi and cite them.
