Mortality rate among men and women in Myocardial infarction.
For this project, an observation you will design and plan a field research instrument. Your final document will include both the plan for carrying out the instrument (you won’t actually do this, but you should do everything up to the point of actually doing it) and the instrument itself –the observation checklist. Note: For this method of data collection, also see the Purdue OWL for more details: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/559/01/ Observation • What will you be looking for in your observation? • Where will you observe? • What time (when) will you observe? • How will you work your observation into your final research paper? Observation • Have no verbal communication with those observed (no questions) • Use a checklist with categories for observation so that results can be tabulated • In addition to the checklist, take detailed notes. Be careful to distinguish between observation (what you see) and interpretation (what you think something means or how you respond to something) • Focus on the details relevant to your subject • Record date, time, and duration of all observations • If someone asks what you are doing, tell the truth
