EU – China Relations (conflict,partnership)
Subtopic: Can the EU economically sustain itself without China? – … and vice versa, should reflect about the Chinese dependence from EU in case of the trade war with the US. – Also reflect about projecting Sino-EU relations into the future – How they were involved then? (History) – Please identify major trends in Sino-EU relations, especially trade and financial relations, with the reference to neoliberal reforms, outsourcing to China, FDI, and deindustrialization of the EU – How they are involved now? (Current state) – Explain which are the major current trends, Belt and Road Initiative, presence of Chinese enterprises in EU corporate sector, financial market, telecommunications, etc. Example: Purchase of the Port of Piraeus in Athens as the largest port in the Mediterranean, etc. – SCENARIO BUILDING: Probable and preferable scenarios well described & explained – How will the EU be in the future If China isn’t involved? – All major trends, and especially the future of the Belt and Road Initiative vs Trans-Atlantic ties with the US… Paper format should be as followed; 1) Title page 2) Abstract 3) Research focus 4) Context (Important themes & background info) and Literature Review 5) Historical Records and Current trends 6) Foresight methodology and Scenario building Exercise – the link between super forces, super trends and scenarios is assessed and explained. – probable and possible scenarios are well explained. – the Wild Card event in possible scenario is appropriate & well explained. – each scenario should contain a probability rated in % of occurring. 7) Depth of Analysis – the strategic foresight is well structured and different sources of info are well explained. – an explanation of what each scenario means and how it relates to the research question. – the scenarios are linked to previous research in the field (literature review) – cause and effect relations are logical and coherent. – the outcomes of each scenario is unique and exclusive. 8) Conclusion – Result of the scenario building. 9) In-text citations, Bibliography and Appendix (primary and secondary sources and media documents)
