Topic: Major report on alcohol and/or drug consumption and policy responses
The proposal is to be uploaded through the HAS 220 Turnitin link on the Moodle site. The upload portal can be found in the assessment section of the Moodle site. Proposals should be uploaded as word documents. Do not upload as papers as PDF. Presentation: Text must be 12 point, Times New Roman font or clear font. All text must be 1.5 spaced. Headings are allowed. Task: You are a social scientist who has been contracted by the NSW Department of Health to investigate and prepare a report on the impact of alcohol and/or drug consumption in the Illawarra or south coast regional area (or your local area) and the effectiveness of one practical interventions to reduce alcohol and/or drug related harm. Your report must describe the impact of drugs and/or alcohol with illustrated examples on the community, discuss the factors that contribute to this problem and the effectiveness of two practical interventions that have been used in Australia to reduce harm and may be effective in addressing alcohol and/or drug related harm in your chosen community. The report must have: 1. Student name and student number clearly identified. 2. A title (short description of the research). 3. An introduction which details the objectives of the report and describes what the report is about. 4. A methods section which describes the documentary sources drawn upon in the research and explains how the scholarly literature was selected. 5. A results and discussion section analysing the problem and explaining the intervention strategies. 6. This section must be illustrated with supporting statistics in illustrated figure and/or tables. 7. A conclusion which synthesises the main findings. 8. In text referencing (Harvard style). The references used must be quality references (scholarly and documentary sources) and no more than 10 years old i.e. 2009 or more recent. 9. A reference list, in alphabetical order, of formatted references, Harvard style (minimum 10 quality references). Scholarly references include peer reviewed journal articles and books. Documentary sources include reports from relevant government departments and agencies, reports from relevant research institutes and reports from relevant third sector organisations. Do not reference the lectures. 10. A copy of the report plan must be attached. Students should prepare a report plan for discussion with their tutor in the tutorial class of week 11. The report plan should also include a short section (150 words) on how you incorporated feedback, particularly feedback related to use of scholarly literature, demonstration of critical thinking and analysis or referencing from the Short essay into your report. 11.
