Nursing is the concentration. Present a presentation to ER staff on proper triage procedures and best practices within the hospital that examines the moral and ethical issues related to triaging patients in the ER. SCENARIOS:Industrial accident 1)32YR OLD firefighter, Frank Jeffers,respiratory difficulties, has insurance,and is married with children. 2)58yr old, Brent Damascus,respiratory difficulties,frequent visitor to ER for asthma attacks,headaches, and tremors. Homeless, unemployed,&uninsured.Stays at the YMCA,eats at the so kitchen, and had been arrested 10 times for petty theft. Recommend evidence-based strategies that should be applied for managing the care of uninsured and indigent population. Explain the healthcare policies and protocols that are in place that direct triage care in an emergency situation. Describe the moral and ethical challenges nurses can face when following hospital policies and protocols. Is there a conflict when a severely injured person is also uninsured? Identify the healthcare policies that are in place for direct care for uninsured individuals. Is there a difference in how these individuals are triaged?
