Biblical Wisdom Discussion: Community
Instructions Read the two passages in the Resources section below. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+27%3a17&version=NIV https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ecclesiastes+4%3a9-12&version=NIV Each scripture addresses the benefit of collaboration and friendship. Probably the most common mistake made by students in online courses is not communicating with their instructors when they have questions or need help. The second-most common mistake is not communicating with their peers! Most universities offering online programs have policies that require instructors to respond to student emails and/or texts within 48 hours, but often students need answers more quickly. Forming cooperative friendships with one’s peers in an online educational environment is an important skill for success in online learning. Answer the questions below: 1. Why do you think students are reluctant to communicate with their peers in online classrooms? 2. Explain one advantage that contacting a peer for help may have over emailing your instructor. 3. Give an example of a time in your academic, professional, or spiritual life when seeking the advice or help from a friend benefitted you. 4. If you could ask one of your peers in this course a question, what would it be? (You may address your peer directly or post a general question.)
