Introduction to sex therapy

July 28, 2024/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Admin

For your final project, complete the following steps: 1) Create a unique clinical vignette of interest to you and related to this unit’s topics. In 1–2 sentences, describe a hypothetical client and his or her presenting problem. Your vignette should be short. The following example could be used as a template: Ms. Green is a single, 23-year-old, African American identified, unemployed actress who attends the local Baptist church. She is seeking help on a recent abuse memory, reporting either a history of abuse as an adult, or a recent sexual assault on a date. A number of factors will affect the way you approach your client’s treatment plan. Factors may include, but are not limited to, those listed in brackets below: Ms. Green [gender] is a single [marital status], 23-year-old [age], African American identified [race/ethnicity], unemployed [socioeconomic status] actress [profession] who attends the local Baptist church [religion]. She is seeking help on a recent abuse memory, reporting either a history of abuse as an adult, or a recent sexual assault on a date [presenting problem]. 2) Name at least three issues associated with this topic. Describe in detail the etiology and impact of one of the issues. Reference 10 peer reviewed articles 3) Identify at least three ethical issues. Explain how intervention plans need to be adapted to address the ethical issues. 4) Identify at least three cultural issues that must be considered for this client. Use the cultures as described by the Hays ADDRESSING Model described in Unit 2. 5) Identify four specific and measurable intervention goals that are supported by research to address the chosen issue. Your plans should address each level of the PLISSIT model, described in Unit 2 (Permission Limited Information Specific Suggestion and Intensive Therapy). You will need to demonstrate the range of possible interventions in this section (each plan should have its own slide). Your plans should each meet the standards for a SMART Goal. SMART goals aim to create specific plans with options to help clients be successful, and they are often required by insurance plans. SMART is an acronym based on the following characteristics: • Specific: The goals are detailed and explicit. • Measurable: You can determine if the goal has been reached. • Attainable: The goal can be realistically achieved within the current context. • Relevant: The goal is connected to the triggers, feelings, or a high-risk situation. • Timely: You will have the goal completed within a set time frame. For example, the following SMART goals could be applied to the example vignette: • Ms. Green will call one support person each day to report how she is coping with feelings of sadness. • Ms. Green will journal for 15 minutes each day about her feelings and thoughts. 6) Support your choices with a scholarly research article published in the last five years (in addition to the assigned readings). This will require you to seek out an additional peer-reviewed journal article. Add one of the following statements to your presentation: • I give my peers permission to use this PowerPoint presentation to create a treatment plan database for future professional use. • I do not give my peers permission to use this PowerPoint presentation to create a treatment plan database. Find a minimum of 10 peer-reviewed research papers. You can use previously searched out articles from your earlier assignments. This is where you need to complete additional research. It needs to be a peer-refereed journal article to earn the credit. Remember that assigned resources, previous textbooks, and Web sites may be used (make sure you cite and reference them), but do not count toward meeting the research expectation.
