Paper details Guidelines for Organizational Analysis of Host Setting In this assignment you are asked to examine the mission, organizational structure and culture, and the contributions and gaps in service delivery of a specific host agency (organization that has a broader perspective, a variety of programs and services addressing numerous needs, multidisciplinary perspective) where children, youth, and families are served. Interview an employee/intern/volunteer of the agency to gain insight regarding the host agency. You are being asked to apply critical thinking skills using the information obtained in the interview and your own research regarding the organization to respond to the prompts below. Do not rely solely on the interview to respond to the prompts below. Prior to beginning the assignment, confirm with your instructor that the agency chosen is a host agency. Your paper should address the following: 1) Provide the mission of the agency. This can be quoted from the agency’s publications or paraphrased. (1-3 sentences) 2) Provide a detailed description of the structure of the agency that includes roles and responsibilities of staff. If the host agency selected is large and has numerous departments/programs you will need to provide an overview of the larger organizational structure, then address specific site or program. Example: hospital: numerous departments and programs: discuss briefly overall mission/goals/structure of larger organization then address specific program or site selected. (1 ½ pages) 3) Describe the culture of the agency and explain three (3) factors placed in bold face font that contribute to the organizational culture. (1 ½ pages) 4) Discuss in depth three (3) ways the agency meets the biopsychosocial needs of children, youth, and families.

Explain specific services and describe details of each service. Explain how each service supports the stated mission of the agency. (2 pages) Examples of specific services: free and reduced lunch, child care, after school care, food bank, transportation vouchers ect…. 5) Explain existing collaborative practice that the agency engages in and collaborative practice challenges experienced by the agency. Describe how the agency could enhance collaborative practice with other service providers to better meet the needs of children, youth, and families. (3 pages) Academic Paper Guidelines The paper should be APA formatted, 8 pages in length (not including the title page or reference list), double-spaced, with 12-point font and 1-inch margins on all sides. An introduction and conclusion is not needed. Use the subheadings below to organize your paper.  Agency Mission  Agency Structure  Agency Culture  Services Meeting Family Needs  Collaborative Practice Throughout the paper, provide scholarly evidence to support your ideas, referencing a minimum of 5 academic and/or professional works, at least 2 should be from the required readings of Units 1&2. Outside references should be from 2010-present. Place outside references in bold-face type. The course text will count as one source, regardless of the number of chapters you cite. The interview does not count as an academic/professional reference. Do not use direct quotes from source material. Editorial and referencing styles specified in the APA Publication Manual 6th Edition can be found at: http://apastyle.apa.org/. The evaluation of the paper will be based on whether you addressed all aspects of the assignment, the appropriate use of social work concepts you have chosen, the strength of your analysis, the quality of your written work (graduate level writing, organization, flow, clarity, depth, mechanics of writing such as grammar, spelling, etc.), and the correct application of APA style. Proofread your work and abide by the academic integrity guidelines. Students are strongly encouraged to seek assistance from the Writing Center in proofreading and editing their work. It is expected that students will be responsible for submitting their own work and not the work of other students.
