Modelling Criminological Data
Description
You are required to identify a research question of your own in relation to the data and then to carry out the appropriate analyses. Although you have freedom in terms of selecting your specific question, the question has to focus in one of the following areas: Themes using the 2013-2014 Crime Survey of England and Wales (CSEW): Violent victimisation Confidence in the police Worry about being raped Themes using the 2014 European Social Survey: Perception of an association between crime and immigration There should be a logical connection between the various analyses you do, and this should be made explicit in your statement of the research question and in your commentary on the results and what you conclude from them. You need to state clearly in your report what question(s) you want to explore, present your findings and draw some conclusions in relation to the question(s) you set yourself. You are expected to choose at least one dependent variable and five independent variables. Make sure you include in your report: Appropriate descriptive statistics and/or visualisation for univariate description of all the variables you use. You need to make sure the summaries and/or descriptive visualisations are appropriate to the level of measurement. Appropriate comparisons, tests of statistical significance, and test for strength of the association of your outcome variable with each of your independent variables. A multiple regression model in which you simultaneously test the impact of all independent variables in your dependent variable. You need to ensure you choose the right type of regression
