European Dis-integration due to the Separation of Germany after World War II
For the ‘analytical essay’ students have to provide an analysis of a chosen, narrow topic relating to the content of the course (i.e. history of European integration). In each essay, students can refer to the relevant textbook chapters, and are strongly advised to make use of additional literature and primary sources (journal articles, books, biographies, speeches, EU documents, etc.) that can support the analysis. The bibliography of the sources used needs to be added at the end of the document. One analytical essay will refer to a topic of sessions 1- 4 and a second analytical essay will relate to topics of sessions 5-8 or later. You can change the topic of this essay if you feel that it will yield a better grade. If you do you must select a topic about the integration or disintegration of Europe between Chapter 1-4 (1945-1968). There are two sample ‘analytical essays’ linked down below. Please ensure that the essay is formatted in the same way. Please provide 6 in-text citations in MLA format.
