Contemporary Issues in Science and Technology
Description: This is a course-long assignment designed to meet the Grand Canyon University requirements for writing a research paper. The assignment is split into sections, one to six. The field of science and technology is changing at a rapid pace; therefore, students must be able to keep up with the changes based on the environments in which they work. This assignment will encourage students to think independently, innovatively, ethically, and critically concerning a current scientific human social, business, or economic problem relevant to their field of study. The topic chosen should encompass an improvement to a current system. Topic: Technological: Power usage, Bandwidth, Transportation, Energy, Satellites, Communications Section 1: Topic Selection, Problem Statement, and Metrics Select one item from the above topic (Technological) in my case, chose Energy. In a Word document, a maximum of 500 words in length, include the following: 1. Research the historical, social, professional, ethical, and legal aspects of your discipline. Identify a problem facing the world today and create a problem statement. The problem statement should be objective, backed by statistics, clear, and concise. The problem scope and affected population should be inherent to the problem statement. 2. Rationale: Analyze the social and professional context of your discipline. Provide a one-paragraph explanation of why the topic is essential, both to you personally and to the profession, as well as its effect on the professional and ethical environment. 3. Vision Statement: Include a version of the world where the problems remain unsolved as well as a version of the world if the problem is solved. 4. Metrics: Provide measurements that describe the problem’s severity and that let you know if the problem is solved. 5. Factors: Define the factors that affect your problem. 6. Create a data acquisition plan: Include your keywords and how you are going to find data on your problem statement. 7. Bibliographic information on three to five related articles for the chosen topic. The articles must have been written within the last five years. Sources must be peer-reviewed. Do not use articles with no designated authors.
