Compare the temperature patterns between Santa Monica Mountains and the national park
Final Project BreakdownSection #1
In this section, we are going to compare the temperature patterns between Santa Monica Mountains and the national park of your choice. 1) Where is Santa Monica Mountains located? Where is your park located? 2) How do the solar altitude and day-length change in a year at the two places, respectively? And how do the variations determine the solar radiation arrived at the two places. 3) What are the ground covers at the two places? And how does that affect the energy received by the ground? 4) How does the ground energy in turn warm the atmosphere at the two places?5) As a result of the variations of solar energy and ground heating, how does the temperature change in a year at the two places? Section#2 In this section, we are going to understand the precipitation patterns as well as the climate characters of Santa Monica Mountains and your place/region. 1) Based on the location, what are the air masses that could impact Santa Monica Mountains and your area? (Types of the air masses, movement, and how they impact the two areas) 2) What weather events usually can be seen in different seasons in Santa Monica Mountains and your area? 3) Find the average temperature and average precipitation in each month. Plot the climograph of each area. Find the types of climate for the two areas in Koppen Climate Classification System. 4) Describe the seasonal variations of temperature and precipitation in the two areas, respectively. 5) Use the climate control factors to explain the seasonal variation patterns. Compare and Contrast the similarities and/or differences between two areas. Section #3 In this section, we are going to understand the geologic history of Santa Monica Mountains and your place/region. 1) Identify the main landforms at the two places. 2) Identify the endogenic and exogenic processes that are operating at the two places 3) Understand the work done by endogenic processesLocate the two places on the plate tectonic map: what are the tectonic plates the places are belong to? How do the plates move? What type(s) of tectonic plate boundaries is/are nearby? How does the movement of tectonic plates shape the landforms at the two places? Are there any other endogenic processes working on the landforms? How do they work? 4) Understand the work done by exogenic processes.list the exogenic processes that may help shape the landforms at the t
