The Tempest, by William Shakespeare

July 28, 2024/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Admin

3 Page Paper   Answer the following prompt: The Tempest, by William Shakespeare, has all of the set-up of what would typically be a tragedy. Prospero has imprisoned the King’s Son. Antonio and Sebastian have a plot to kill the King. Caliban and his masters have a plot to kill Prospero. All of the characters seem to be at the mercy Of Prospero and his spirits. Finally, the spirits are tired of Prospero’s control and seek to be poised to get vengeance.    However, just as the moment arrives wherein we would typically witness countless deaths and buckets of blood, Prospero upturns the momentum of the story and forgives everyone. The story finishes anticlimactically and most everyone gets what they want.   Why does this happen? Why does Prospero forgive the others rather than get revenge? What motivates him to act in this way? Use textual evidence (lines from the book) as well as academic opinions you are able to find online. Cite your sources and include a bibliography (in addition to your 3 pages)
