July 28, 2024/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Admin

Develop a 3 page, double spaced typed essay that includes MLA citations and a corresponding works cited page. You need a minimum of 2 sources from web sources with the following domains: .edu, .gov, or .org. Do not use Wikipedia. First, read The New Yorker article titled “Chinese Food and the Joy of Inauthentic Cooking” by Hua Hsu. https://www.newyorker.com/culture/cultural-comment/chinese-food-and-the-joy-of-inauthentic-cooking The article will challenge you to think about the relationship between food, culture, and authenticity. After reading the article, consider the proposition below made by Grace Lee: *In her new documentary, “Off the Menu,” the filmmaker Grace Lee asks: “Do we think we understand a culture better when it’s in our stomachs?” By and large, the answer seems to be yes: the belief that we can better understand one another by eating each other’s food quietly underwrites an increasingly expansive vision of American cuisine. Assignment prompt: Develop an essay that addresses the prompt above (particularly the core idea that eating cuisine from another culture could aid in understanding that culture). You may select any cultural cuisine you wish to explore and include citations that document your analysis of this cuisine. You may also use Hua Hsu’s article as one of your two documented sources in your essay. Type DR2 on the M2Template to format your paper correctly; use one of the citations from the Works Cited page for the assigned article you evaluated and delete the rest. Include MLA parenthetical citations to document your research. For example, if you quote from the article, be sure to follow with citation that includes the author last name and page number where applicable: (Hsu 3). Use one or more of these resources to help you write the citations: MLA 8th Edition Help Page Modern Language Association (MLA) Style Center OWL A Page on a Web Site, Save your assignment as a Word document (.doc) and upload it by clicking on the Browse My Computer button. Name the file as LastnameDR2, where “Lastname” is your last name (i.e. JohnsonDR2.doc). Your submission will be checked for plagiarism using the SafeAssign feature within Blackboard.
