Rhetorical analysis and arguing through images with the text ” It’s What I Do”

We have been reading about and discussing the concepts of rhetorical analysis and arguing through images with the text It’s What I Do. This assignment will ask you to draw from these readings and discussions, using the essays we’ve read by Sontag and Benjamin as models, in order to construct your own rhetorical analysis of some of Lynsey Addario’s photos. Process: Begin by choosing 2-3 photos you’d like to analyze. What are the different contexts of these photos? Are they connected in any way? Then, considering arguments made by Benjamin and Sontag, discuss the various photos in terms of their artistry and representation of pain, suffering, and humanity. Based upon your analysis, do you think Benjamin and/or Sontag make valid points? What evidence supports your position? Be sure to draw specific quotes from Sontag and Benjamin, as well as to reference aspects of Addario’s book in supporting your response.
