TEACHING SCHEME As this is a dissertation unit the majority of the work you do on it will take place outside of taught sessions. Your Supervisor will support you in this work, but it is important to understand that the ultimate responsibility for progressing the dissertation is your own. To provide you with further support there will be several timetabled sessions where you will be given advice on how to conduct a literature review, as well as drop in sessions with the Unit Leader nearer to the submission date where you can get help on any general queries you have. Please keep in mind though that once your Supervisor has been allocated to you that person should become your first point of contact for any specific queries relating to your dissertation. Week 12 – There will be a session where we will introduce you to the concept of literature reviews and give some practical advice on how to locate and evaluate literature. Aside from helping with your dissertation this may also be useful for when you are looking for literature in relation to other assignments that you have on the MSc Foundations of Clinical Psychology course. It will also enable you to start doing some preliminary searches of the literature to help you better decide which area you would like to focus on. Please note that this session will appear on your online timetable as being one of the Roots and Ranges of Psychological Disorders sessions. Week 37 – This will be a session where we will re-visit some of the points made in week 12 and give you further advice on to ensure you are critically evaluating the literature and not just describing it. You will have the opportunity to ask questions in this session. Week 39 – This will be a drop in session where you can ask for general advice on how to conduct and write-up your literature review. Please note however that this session is not intended to be a replacement for meetings with your Supervisor. Any specific queries you have about your literature review topic should be directed to them. The paper should be 13750 words long
