Physical competence – physical capabilities to execute certain movement tasks (USE THIS REFERENCE BELOW WHEN YOU DEFINE PHYSICAL LITERACY) “Physical Literacy describes the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding that individuals develop in order to maintain physical activity at an appropriate level throughout their life” (Whitehead, 2010) (REPORT GUIDE) Marking Criteria: Your assessment will be marked in the following way:
Title: The understanding and application of the theoretical concept of physical literacy. Understanding Physical Literacy • Demonstrate an understanding of the concept of physical literacy either within the context of physical education or youth sport. Define physical literacy and critically review the literature on physical literacy. (25%) • Identify the implications for Physical Education and coaching practice(s). Identify how teacher/coach behaviors and/or pedagogy impacts physical literacy. In this section you should provide specific examples with reference to a specific population, for example Primary school aged children, 4 – 11 years old. (25%) • Students will use their experiences in the practical activities as the basis to illustrate their developing understanding of physical literacy in practice. This is evidence by completion of the weekly learning tasks located in an appendix of evidence (30%)
